Developers have raised questions about whether the Hulhumale' Urban Isle project will go ahead as planned.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) earlier signed agreements to build hotels and other facilities in the tourism zone.

But there are concerns over the project and stakeholders are trying to have a meeting with HDC for guarantees.

Adhadhu has obtained a copy of a letter signed by the developers addressed to former Managing Director Mauroof Jameel in late May.

The developers said they wanted to get an update on the project and expressed concern over lack of communication.

The letter was signed by 14 developers. All these companies have bought land in Urban Isle and have signed contracts with HDC.

Since the letter was sent, the government has decided to develop a financial centre in Urban Isle. The lands for the centre has been given to the Finance Ministry.

Adhadhu is unable to bring a comment from HDC because the company refuses to cooperate with out journalists.
