Maldives Post Limited HR Director Aminath Suhana, accused of corruption, resigned from her post on Monday.
Suhana and five other employees have been accused of corruption and a complaint was reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The complaint report made serious allegations against the company's MD Ahmed Shafeeq, Assistant MD Aminath Sharma, Executive Director Fathimath Seema and Executive Director Mohamed Ahmed.
Adhadhu has obtained a copy of the report submitted to the ACC.
The allegations against Suhana:
- Suhana led the recruitment of employees and committed fraud and deception while shortlisting and hiring employees
- The process of interviewing people during recruitment is not done on the basis of merit, but on a list which Suhana compiles
- Calling and interviewing an inexperienced applicant who was not shortlisted for the position and hiring the applicant
Last week, the Whistleblower Protection Unit ruled that an employee was fired in retaliation after flagging corruption at Maldives Post Limited.
Maldives Post Limited was ordered on January 21 not to take action against the whistleblower and any other employees involved in the case, but the authority defied the order and dismissed the whistleblower on January 23.
Suhana is accused of dismissing the employee. The Whistleblower Protection Unit fined the Maldives Post Limited MVR 900,000 for firing the employee.
The post office has not yet complied with the order to reinstate the dismissed employee.
