The number of tourist arrivals has surpassed 1.8 million this year, setting a new record for annual tourist arrival figures.

According to Immigration, 1,878,539 tourists visited the Maldives last year while more than 1.8 million tourists have visited the country so far this year.

This record has been broken in all years except during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Tourism Ministry has set a target of two million tourists this year.

In a post on X, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal said the new record is a symbol of the hard work and support of the tourism industry.

The top five source countries this year are China, Russia, the UK, Germany and Italy. India, the biggest source market in 2023, ranks sixth now.
