Heavy rains have flooded many roads in Male' city, making it difficult to walk and drive vehicles.
Many roads in Maafannu district including the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (GMH) area have been flooded. Majeedhee Magu and some roads in other areas have also been flooded.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has now started draining the flood waters.

The government recently improved the drainage systems in the IGMH area to solve the frequent flooding problem in Maafannu district.
However, the area was flooded with heavy rains on Monday.
Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has predicted bad weather with heavy rains in most parts of the country on Monday.

Met Office said thundershowers are expected in parts of the country while heavy rains are expected in south and central regions.

Met Office predicts bad weather until 6:00 pm on Monday. Winds will be between 5-15 mph in the southern regions and 3-13 mph elsewhere.
