The Tourism Ministry has signed an agreement with the Maldives National University (MNU) to build a resort and training school in Laamu Hulimendhoo island.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz and Tourism Minister Faisal Ibrahim signed the agreement during a ceremony at MNU on Saturday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Faisal said the project will provide good opportunities to those who want a career in the field of tourism.
"This is very important. Especially, the training school is being built in Laamu atoll. It is a little far from Male'. I believe this is also a good decision," he said.
Under the agreement, a five-star resort will be developed in Hulimendhoo along with a modern training school.
According to the Tourism Ministry, Hulimendhoo will become a hub to offer internships and training opportunities in hotel management.
