Saudi company to build cold storage facility in Mulah

The Fisheries Ministry yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ROS for Trading Company of Saudi Arabia for the construction of a 500-tonne cold storage facility in Meemu Mulah island.

The cold storage will have the capacity to freeze 50 tonnes of fish per day.

The company has been given 300 days to complete the facility with the storage design. The ministry said the entire project will cost USD 5.1 million.

The establishment of the facility in Mulah will boost fisheries in the region and bring conveniences to fishers, the ministry stated.
