Overwhelming support for Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race this year

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race, the largest annual race organized by Dhiraagu, was held in Hulhumale' on Friday.

A total of 4,400 runners from different categories participated in the race.

The half marathon and 10-km race began at 5:00 am. The 5-km race for schools, offices and resorts started at 4:00 pm and continued until 06:00 pm.

Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau, heads of various resorts, companies and government officials participated in the 5-km race.

Medals were given to all who completed the race and prizes were awarded to the winners.

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race provided an opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for children's rights NGOs.

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the only international race held in the Maldives.

Government revenue exceeds MVR 30 billion

The Maldivian government’s revenue surpassed MVR 30 billion, marking a slight increase over last year despite a slowdown in tourism-related tax growth. While tax revenue rose to MVR 23.8 billion, non-tax revenue saw a decline. Economic experts link the stagnation to a cooling tourism sector, which may impact year-end budgetary targets.

TGST declines due to low tourist arrivals

Maldives' state revenue is declining as Tourism Goods and Services Tax collections fell by MVR 110.5 million due to a drop in visitor arrivals. Disruptions in Middle Eastern air travel have slowed tourism momentum since the second quarter. It is now unlikely the country will meet its annual target of 2.4 million tourists.
