A high-level core group of senior officials from both countries will be formed to implement the Maldives-India Vision Document reached during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's state visit to India.

The vision document was drafted during the President's visit to India on October 7 after talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ministers of both countries participated in the talks.

According to the vision document, President Muizzu and Modi decided to form a Maldives-India High-Level Core Group to monitor the implementation of the document.

"The leadership of this group will be decided mutually between the two sides," the document stated.

However, it is unclear whether any progress has been made in forming the core group as the government has not yet briefed the media following the President's visit to India.

Earlier, a similar core group had conducted talks to remove Indian soldiers from the Maldives and replace them with employees of an Indian government-run defence company.

Adhadhu has covered the key issues related to security, health, education and development agreed with India in the Vision Document. These include agreements to strengthen military ties with India. The opposition and some members of the public have also criticized the government and President Muizzu following the agreements reached with India.

However, President Muizzu accused some journalists of lying about the vision document.

"Some newspapers write about our country, false news to criticize our foreign policy. Not a lot of newspapers, just one or two. Most journalists, in the field of journalism, are very responsible," he said.
