The Bank of Maldives (BML) has elected members to its Board of Directors with Principal Secretary to the President on Cabinet Affairs Ahmed Ali Habeeb appointed as the Chairman of the Board.

At the bank's Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), Ahmed Ali Habeeb, Ali Irufan and Mohamed Shahid were appointed as board directors.

Directors proposed by the government and appointed to the BML Board:

  1. Ahmed Ali Habeeb
  2. Ali Faris Mohamed
  3. Adil Moosa
  4. Dr. Mariyam Suzy Adam
  5. Ali Irufan
  6. Mohamed Shahid

The directors proposed by the common shareholders:

  1. Abdulla Naseem
  2. Moosa Rasheed
  3. Najeem Ibrahim Zakariyya

Aishath Sajnee, who represents the government on the BML board of directors, resigned from her post yesterday.

Meanwhile, BML Managing Director and CEO Karl Stumke resigned on September 9 and Board Member Aishath Noordeen resigned on August 27.
