ACC stops more than 100 MIFCO promotions ahead of Sunday's vote

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has stopped more than 100 promotions given by Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) ahead of Sunday's parliamentary elections.

Adhadhu understands that the ACC stopped promotions for more than 100 MIFCO employees in Lhaviyani Felivaru and Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo.

ACC ordered to stop the promotions after looking into a complaint. The ACC has not yet commented on the matter.

Most of the people working in Felivaru are from Lhaviyani Naifaru and Hinnavaru islands while most Kooddoo employees belong to Gaafu Alifu Villingili, Maamendhoo, Kolamaafushi and Dhaandhoo islands.

The ACC has so far received 16 cases related to the parliamentary elections and investigations are ongoing into 14 cases.
