Promotions for over 100 MIFCO employees ahead of elections!

More than 100 employees of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) working in Lhaviyani Felivaru and Gaaf Alif Kooddoo have been promoted ahead of Sunday's parliamentary elections.

MIFCO promoted employees of Felivaru and Kooddoo from nearby islands, Adhadhu has learned.

Most employees of Felivaru are from Lhaviyani Hinnavaru and Naifaru, whilst most Kooddoo workers come from Gaaf Alif Villingili, Maamendhoo, Kolamaafushi and Dhaandhoo.

MIFCO officials could not be reached for comment.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating 14 out of 16 complaints lodged in relation to the Majlis elections.

In addition, complaints concerning the alleged intimidation of government workers, anti-campaigning and misuse of state resources in the campaign have been made to the Elections Commission (EC).
