The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has said the current bad weather is the result of the transition of monsoons.
Satellite images shared by the Met Office show rain clouds across a large area of the Maldives.
Assistant Meteorologist Thahumeena Abdul Kareem said the weather will not be too bad in the north and central parts for the next two to three days.
However, some rain is expected in the south.
"We usually record the highest temperatures in April. But there will be occasional rains and frequent thunderstorms in April," she said.
Thahumeena also said central regions will experience rain showers during Eid while there is a higher chance of rainfall in the south.
The weather will be generally good during the Eid, she said, adding that rain is expected once a day during this time.
