The Bank of Maldives (BML) has scheduled an extraordinary general meeting for 9:00 pm on March 25, Monday to bring changes to the board of directors.

According to the bank, the government has decided to appoint Hassan Zareer and Ali Faris Mohamed to the board.

The total number of BML board members is 11 with eight members representing the government. There are three members representing the common shareholders.

The current government decided to remove the bank's chairman and four directors from the board and re-appointed two directors. However, BML ruled that the board remains unchanged as members were removed in contravention of the rules.

The extraordinary general meeting will be held through the Maldives Securities Depository (MSD)'s online meeting management system, Fahivote. Only shareholders registered by March 14 will be eligible to join the meeting.

According to the agenda, minutes of the 40th Annual General Meeting will be approved and members will be appointed to the board.

Those who wish to join the meeting must pre-register before 9:00 pm on March 23.

Registration for the meeting can be done through MSD's online system Infinity or by emailing the registration form to corporateaffairs@bml.com.mv.
