Resort businessman and Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir's bank accounts have been frozen in connection to a case filed in the Civil Court.
According to the Civil Court case, Jabir owes payment for shares in the Marine Technology Maldives company.
Under an agreement to purchase shares, Jabir owes USD 750,000. He has already made a payment of USD 100,000.
The case was filed in the Civil Court to recover the remaining USD 600,000. The petitioner also requested that the accounts be frozen until a decision is reached.
The court ordered to temporarily freeze bank accounts in Jabir's name and bank accounts of companies and resort businesses with Jabir's interest.
It includes the International Travel Consultant Pvt Ltd and J Hotels and Resorts.
The court ordered to freeze the full amount in the accounts if they have less than USD 600,000 or to freeze exactly USD 600,000 if they have more than the amount.
The Civil Court issued orders on the Bank of Maldives, Maldives Islamic Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of Ceylon, Commercial Bank of Maldives, The Mauritius Commercial Bank and Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. These banks have accounts connected to Jabir.
