Velana International Airport (VIA) is packed with jets with an increase in the number of wealthy tourists visiting Maldives during the New Year holidays and winter holidays.
The Maldives Airports Company (MACL), which operates the VIA, has allotted extra parking space due to the increase in superjets arriving during this time of year.
Currently, 68 jets can be parked at VIA while the number stood at 39 before.
Tourist arrivals have grown at a time when domestic flights have also increased. More than 1.8 million tourists visited Maldives this year.
