India has once again become the top source market for tourist arrivals in the Maldives after overtaking Russia, according to official statistics.
Figures from the Ministry of Tourism show that 1,834,759 tourists have arrived in Maldives so far this year. This is a record figure. The countries with the highest number of tourists were:
- India - 205,278
- Russia - 203,539
- China - 185,761
- United Kingdom - 152,284
- Germany - 132,188
India and Russia are the two largest source markets for Maldives since the Chinese market collapsed during the Covid pandemic. Since China reopened its borders this year, the country quickly moved up to third place.
