Russia’s national carrier Aeroflot has decided to increase flights to the Maldives, according to the airline.
Aeroflot currently operates four flights a week to the Maldives. But seven flights a week will be operated starting in October, the airline said.
The Maldives is one of the most popular destinations among the airline’s passengers and Russia is the top tourist market for the Maldives this year.
While a total of 1,159,884 tourists visited the country by August 15, 137,221 tourists or 11 percent of arrivals came from Russia.
The Russian flag carrier’s decision to increase flights to coincide with the tourism high season in the Maldives is expected to boost arrivals from the top market.
