Captain Ameen and Nazim appointed Yameen's campaign managers

Captain Mohamed Ameen on Wednesday was appointed former president Abdulla Yameen's campaign manager for this year's presidential election.

Former health minister Abdulla Nazim was appointed as the deputy campaign manager along with Ameen at a Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) rally.

Ameen served as Maldivian's flight operations director until 2019. Nazim was a member of Yameen's cabinet.

The opposition has yet to announce a date to formally launch Yameen's campaign. The opposition candidate is serving an 11-year prison sentence in Maafushi jail.

An alternative candidate if Yameen is unable is contest has not yet been revealed.
