MFDA bans low quality injection batch

Authorities have banned the sale of a low quality batch of injections imported into the country.

The issues were found in a batch of Aciloc or Ranitidine injection 25ml. The alert was issued for batch RP21311.

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) banned the batch and ordered pharmacies and health service providers to inform the authorities if they have any in stock.

The low quality batch which expires in June 2024 was produced by Cadila Pharmaceuticals in Ahmedabad, India.

MFDA said they would be screening at ports to stop the import of the batch. Ranitidine is used to treat ulcers in the stomach and intestines.
