Police have arrested 10 foreigners for allegedly trying to smuggle seven kilograms of drugs into the Maldives by sea.

The suspects include Indians and Indonesians. They were alleged of trying to smuggle the drugs via a ship.

The suspects:

• Ganesh Bonmali, 22 - India
• Peter Vini, 28 - India
• Prabhakarana Nagarajan, 35 - India
• Adriansya, 25 - Indonesia
• Mohamed Iqbal Makmur, 30 - Indonesia
• Dathkile Darshan Vijay, 22 - India
• Saran Padman, 26 - India
• Naswan Adil, 30 - Indonesia
• Romans Santhia Fernando, 58 - India
• Govsik Raj James Knox, 30- India

Ganesh Bonmali, Peter Vini, Prabhakarana Nagarajan, Adriansya and Mohamad Iqbal Makmur were remanded in custody for five days.

Saran Padman, Naswan Adil, Romans Santhia Fernando and Govsik Raj James Knox were remanded in custody for one day.

Police have not yet released any details on the case.
