President Muizzu to make official visit to Estonia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is expected to make an official visit to Estonia this month.

The President's Office said he will visit Estonia from January 13 to 16 at the invitation of President Dr. Alar Karis.

This is the first official visit to Estonia by a sitting Maldivian President.

According to the President's Office, discussions will be held on identifying areas of collaboration including digital, cyber and e-governance, climate and environmental issues and in science and education.

Muizzu is scheduled to meet President Karis, President of the Estonian Parliament Lauri Hussar, Minister of Education and Research Kristina Kallas and Minister of Climate Yoko Alender, Minister of Health Riina Sikut, Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa-Ly Pakosta and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jonatan Vseviov.

He will also visit the Tartu city to meet Mayor Urmas Klaas and visit University of Tartu, the Estonian Genome Database Centre and the Greenergy Data Centre.

During this visit, the President will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and a senior government delegation.

A private delegation consisting of leaders in local tech community will also accompany the President and have engagements with Estonian companies and institutes that work in the digital sphere.
