Maldives' Ambassador to China, Dr. Fazeel Najeeb, presented his credentials to President Xi Jinping today.

The ceremony, which took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, reported the Foreign Ministry.

President Xi congratulated Dr Najeeb on his appointment and expressed his commitment to supporting the strengthening of ties between China and the Maldives. He also assured the Ambassador of his full cooperation in furthering the bilateral relationship.

At the ceremony, Dr Najeeb conveyed the best wishes and greetings of the people of the Maldives and President Muizzu to Xi Jinping and the people of China.

The Maldives and China established bilateral relations on 14 October 1972. Dr Fazeel Najeeb is the Maldives' fifth ambassador to the country.
