A Ukrainian national has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).

Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov was appointed seven months after the post became vacant. He is the first foreign CEO of the state-owned fisheries company.

Although the government has not announced his appointment, multiple credible sources confirmed it to Adhadhu.

It is understood that the government is preparing to make an official announcement on Monday.

Former CEO Samah Rasheed was dismissed in May. The government faced criticism after reports suggested the company was hiring a foreign CEO.

According to Lyubimov's LinkedIn profile, he has 20 years of experience in various business fields.

MIFCO was established in 1993 following the Fisheries Projects Implementation Department (FPID) corruption scandal.
