Five Immigration officials are under investigation for allegedly accepting bribes on matters related to foreign nationals.

In a post on X on Thursday, Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihusaan said police were investigating the officials in suspicion of violating laws and regulations.

"The President has instructed me to take the strictest legal action against those who disrespect the uniform and cause the loss of public trust in institutions," he wrote.

Ihusaan added that electronic devices had been seized for the investigation and a raid had been conducted at the homes of the five Immigration officials.

"I would like to repeat to all parties to refrain from anything that could undermine the credibility of the state institutions," Ihusaan stated.

The government treats the issue of undocumented foreign nationals as a matter of national security and is conducting operations to deport illegal immigrants.
