Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih left a letter with valuable advice to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as he left office with five years of experience on November 17, 2023.
Appearing on Raajje TV's Fashaa Iru program on Sunday morning, Solih said he left the handwritten letter on the desk for incoming President Muizzu.
"The last thing I did that day, I thought I should at least leave a note to the new incoming President who will sit on that chair," Solih said.
"I thought I must note down what I had learnt in my five years of experience for the next President. So I wrote a letter and left it on the table," he added.
Solih's handwritten letter.
The letter, written by Solih, stated that the President is entrusted with a great responsibility and anyone who takes over that responsibility must strive to serve the country with dignity and respect without discriminating against any citizen.
He stressed the importance of prioritizing Islam and the national interest in every matter.
Noting that there will be many challenging times, Solih said every decision must be made based on the rights of the people and the nation's interest.
"Keep in mind that you are a servant of the people. Always discuss. I wish you success," he concluded.
This is the first time that Solih had spoken about the letter. Following Muizzu's victory in last year's presidential election, Solih invited him to the President's Office and congratulated him.
