Maldives-India fifth Defense Cooperation Dialogue concludes

The fifth meeting of the Defense Cooperation Dialogue between Maldives and India held in New Delhi has concluded successfully.

General Ibrahim Hilmy from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) attended the meeting while Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane represented India.

In a statement issued last night, MNDF said discussions on military relations between the two countries were held during the meeting.

"Discussions were also held on ways to further strengthen defence ties and enhance defence cooperation, on training and learning, enhancing cooperation in information sharing and enhancing maritime security and safety in the region," the statement said.

MNDF added that Hilmy met with the heads of various branches of the Indian Army during the visit. He also toured the Information Fusion Center and observed the work being carried out there.

The last meeting of the Defense Cooperation Dialogue was held on March 19, 2023.
