A man who brought cartridges with suspected drugs to the Maldives through the post has been arrested.

The 31-year-old Maldivian man was arrested last Tuesday in an operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department based on information provided by Customs, police said.

A parcel in his possession was checked after his arrest and 20 cartridges containing suspected drugs were found inside, police said.

The suspect was remanded for seven days in custody when he was taken to court, police said.

The investigation of the case is continuing, police said.
