President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has advised teachers to work sincerely and parents not to neglect their children's education.
In his address to mark the beginning of the new academic year, Muizzu highlighted the importance given to education in Islam.
"My appeal to the energetic teachers and education sector employees is to work sincerely with commitment. I ask the parents not to neglect for a moment in providing a strong upbringing with good education to our beloved children who are the light of our eyes," he said.
Muizzu said his government was working to improve the education sector with more training opportunities for teachers and by making schools more spacious.
“Hopefully, the government will strive towards achieving the goals of providing better school environments in terms of facilities and space, more training and opportunities for teachers, better pathways for all education sector workers and better results that parents can be proud of,” he said.
The President said the government will work to provide education to all children without exclusion.
“We will continue to work to the highest extent of the government's ability and capacity to ensure that no child in any island is left out and that the right to education is provided equally,” he said.
