A 31-year-old man who was burned in a fire in Alif Alif Rasdhoo island has been removed from the ventilator but is still being treated in the ICU.

A media official for Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) told Adhadhu that he remains in serious condition.

The man and his 31-year-old wife were also burned in the fire. The woman died on March 31 while being treated in the ICU of the IGMH.

Rasdhoo council President Mohamed Nahid said the fire had happened in the couple's room on March 24 and that no one else was injured.

Their five-year-old child was not in the room at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Police have not yet commented on the incident.
