A police complaint has been filed after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu contacted and threatened Adhadhu CEO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa.
Fiyaz received a phone call from the President at 7:04 pm on March 14. He expressed anger over comments about a family member by a political activist during an opposition rally.
In the minute-long phone call, Muizzu threatened strict action against Fiyaz and Adhadhu.
Muizzu repeated the threat twice and ended the phone call with the words, “I’m repeating for a third time, I will take the strictest action.”
However, Adhadhu did not report the remarks about the President's family member. The first story on the matter published on Adhadhu was after government officials condemned the remarks.
