Police have confiscated the driving license of a person involved in an accident on the Sinamale' Bridge Highway on February 1 which resulted in the death of a foreigner.

In a statement issued today, police identified the deceased as Javed Chaudhary, 30, from Bangladesh.

Police said the accident occurred when his motorcycle hit a traffic cone near the solar panels in the lane from Hulhumale' to Male'.

Another motorcycle which came from behind lost control and ran over the man's body.

Police said the driver's license was confiscated and the motorcycle was towed. The duration of license confiscation has been extended with a court warrant.

They did not disclose the identity of the motorcyclist but said the driver stopped at the scene after running over Chaudhary's body.

They said further investigation was underway to determine the speed of the motorcycle and that work was underway to send the case to the Prosecutor General's (PG) Office.
