A 60-year-old woman has been questioned in connection with the accident on the Sinamale' Bridge Highway on Saturday which resulted in the death of a foreigner.
Police said the woman's license has been confiscated and her motorcycle was also towed.
"A 60-year-old woman has been questioned in connection with the accident. Her license has been confiscated and her motorcycle has been towed," police said.
A video circulating on social media which appears to be from a police CCTV camera shows the man's motorcycle hit a traffic cone on the highway after which he falls off from the vehicle.
Another motorcycle which came from behind lost control and ran over the man's body.
Police said the deceased was a Bangladeshi man. He died at around 9:00 am on February 1 while undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The accident occurred at 8:19 am when the man's motorcycle hit a traffic cone near the solar panels in the lane from Hulhumale' to Male'.
Police said the traffic cone was placed to indicate that work was underway near the solar panels on the side of the highway.
Further investigations are underway, police said earlier.
