The unclaimed body of a Nepalese woman, who died in the Maldives, has been in the morgue for 24 days.

According to the death form obtained by Adhadhu, 25-year-old Kanchan Dangal died on December 9, 2024.

Police said discussions were ongoing with the Nepalese embassy on how to deal with her body.

Adhadhu understands that Kanchan was pregnant at the time of her death. Her last post on TikTok was on December 8, 2024.

Kanchan was brought to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) emergency ward with severe abdominal pain and lost consciousness on the way to the hospital.

Police said the medico-legal report did not reveal the cause of death and did not indicate any sexual assault.

But they added that Kanchan had a medical history of anaemia.

Police transferred the body to the morgue after her death because the local sponsor declined to be in charge of the body.

Her sudden death is under investigation. However, police did not say whether there were any suspicious circumstances in the death.
