Mauroof Jameel has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

The previous MD, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, resigned early yesterday amid allegations of corruption and mounting pressure.

Mauroof Jameel, who was also a member of the government's Housing Committee, assumed the role earlier today.

An architect by profession, Mauroof played a key role in the initial Hulhumalé development project. He also conducts research on the architecture of Maldivian stone mosques and resort architecture.
