Finance Ministry statistics have shown that the government has exceeded the budget for official transportation by MVR 16.7 million.

According to the weekly figures, MVR 245 million had been spent on official travels by November 28.

MVR 228.3 million was budgeted for transportation. That is MVR 69 million for international flights, MVR 53 million for domestic flights and MVR 44 million for transport by sea.

The MVR 5 billion supplementary budget recently approved by the Parliament does not include money for transportation.

Finance Ministry figures show that MVR 16.7 million had been spent more than the budget by November 28.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu toured the atolls during the parliamentary election earlier this year and he is currently visiting islands in Kaafu and Alif Alif atoll.

He also made several trips abroad including China, United States, India, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Antigua and Barbuda.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef have also made several official trips.
