Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced an initiative to install ATMs in all inhabited islands by the end of year 2025.
The Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM (BML ATM for entire Maldives) project was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at an event held at the President’s Office on Thursday.
Speaking at the ceremony, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef expressed the significant impact this project will have on enhancing financial inclusion.
"Bank of Maldives has always prioritized financial inclusion for our communities. We pioneered modern banking solutions in the country with the first ATMs, internet banking, mobile banking, and digital wallets, and we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to serving the Maldivian community through the expansion of our ATM footprint," he said.
"By the end of 2025, every Maldivian will have access to essential banking services on their island," Shareef announced.
The national bank signed an MoU with the Economic Ministry at the event to implement the nationwide project. As part of this project, BML opened two new ATMs at Alif Dhaal Hangnaameedhoo and Omadhoo on Thursday.
BML has a nationwide network of 39 branches across all 20 atolls, 93 Self Service Banking Centres, 148 ATMs, Agent Banking Service and a full suite of Digital Banking services.
