President Muizzu departs to India on Indian Defense Ministry aircraft

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today departed to India on an aircraft from the Indian Defense Ministry.

Muizzu left the country at 12:06 pm on an Indian Defense Research and Development aircraft. A 50-member delegation is accompanying the President.

According to flight tracking sites, the aircraft "IFC1424" is operated by the Indian Air Force. It is expected to land in New Delhi.

Adhadhu has obtained a list of the members participating in the five-day trip. It shows that Muizzu is accompanied by his wife Sajida Mohamed, some ministers, officials of the President's Office, members of the ruling party and journalists.

The ministers accompanying the President are Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon, Home Minister Ali Ihusan, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer, Health Minister Ahmed Nazim, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen and Construction Minister Abdullah Muththalib.

He is also joined by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Governor Ahmed Munawar, Vice Chief of Defense Force Ahmed Ghiyas, Senior Chief Spokesperson Heena Waleed and President's Office Communications Minister Ibrahim Khaleel.

Ruling People's National Congress (PNC) parliamentary group leader MP Ibrahim Falah is also a member of the delegation.

The journalists accompanying the President include Public Service Media's (PSM) Abdulla Muaz, Mihaaru's Ahmed Hamdhoon, Sangu TV's Maahath Hussain Rasheed, Vaguthu's Najah Masood and Nahudha Faiz from Dhiyares.

President Muizzu will conclude the state visit to India and return to the Maldives on Thursday. He is visiting at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu.

He will meet President Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and official talks will be held to enhance bilateral relations. The President will also tour Mumbai and Bangalore during the visit.

International media earlier reported, citing Indian officials, that the purpose of the visit is to seek financial assistance. But neither government has commented on the matter.
