The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to provide legal assistance to employees who are illegally dismissed from government companies and the civil service.

In a press release, the MDP said the party would assist those who are illegally fired for not supporting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

"The MDP has decided to assist the employees in taking the necessary legal action as they are being dismissed for political reasons," the party stated.

MDP urged those in need of legal assistance to email [email protected] or Viber to 7341637.

The opposition party said cases of dismissal based on political views were increasing in government ministries and companies.

MDP also said that the government is increasing the number of political employees despite financial challenges. The government has not disclosed the number of political employees.
