Customs have seized 3.5 kg of drugs attempted to be smuggled into Maldives by air transport.

The drugs seized at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Monday have been listed as heroin, methamphetamine and synthetic cathinone.

Weight of the seized drugs

• Methamphetamine - 315 grams
• Synthetic Cathinone - 215 grams
• Heroin - 3,058 grams

Customs have not yet disclosed whether any suspects were arrested in connection to the case.

The agency has paid special attention to seizing drugs smuggled into Maldives by air and has seized a large amount of drugs so far this year.
