President’s Office Minister Adam Rameez has been dismissed more than a month after his ex-wife was accused of sorcery against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Some government officials confirmed to Adhadhu that Rameez had been dismissed. However, the President's Office has not yet commented on the matter.

His photo has now been removed from the President's Office website. This is the first ministerial-level sacking by President Muizzu.

Rameez has been on suspension since June 27 in connection with a case being investigated by the President’s Office. However, the government did not disclose any details about the investigation.

His ex-wife former State Minister Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem was arrested on charges of witchcraft and was released after 20 days in jail.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General's Office (PG) recently decided not to press charges against Shamnaz due to a lack of evidence.

The witchcraft allegation surfaced after news broke about the sidelining of Rameez, formerly the President's "right-hand man".
