President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has thanked the Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar for his efforts to strengthen relations between India and Maldives.
Mahawar paid a farewell call on Muizzu at the President's Office on Thursday.
During the meeting Muizzu noted that the friendship and bilateral cooperation between the nations experienced significant revitalisation during Mahawar's tenure.
Mahawar reaffirmed India’s support for the development of the Maldives and commended Muizzu’s leadership and collaborative approach.
He noted that this approach had helped address shared challenges and further strengthened the ties between the two countries.
Both Muizzu and Mahawar expressed confidence in the ability of both countries to maintain a positive trajectory and to ensure the timely completion of projects.
Mahawar was appointed as High Commissioner of India to the Maldives on November 10, 2021.
India has named G Balasubramanian as the new High Commissioner.
Balasubramanian currently serves as the High Commissioner of India to Nigeria. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1998 and served at the Indian missions in Moscow, Washington and Bangkok.
